St. Luke's members have many talents to share and we have a variety of ways to be involved. Please contact the Parish Office to become part of any of these ministries or to share ideas on creating new ones.

Matthew 25 Mission
The Matthew 25 Mission is an outreach program of love and compassion to the needy in Pontotoc County. We provide food and other health care essentials for individuals and families on a monthly basis  Learn more »

Meals on Wheels
What a great outreach ministry this is to the elderly in our Ada community! St. Luke’s sends volunteers to drive and deliver meals once every three months for one week.

Internal Ministries

Altar Guild
We have a dedicated volunteer group of the congregation whose ministry is to care for the altar, vestments, vessels, and altar linens of the church. Altar Guild members prepare the sanctuary for services and clean up afterward. Altar Guild members supervise the decoration of the sanctuary with flowers.

In our worship, these ministers read the Scriptures and pray the prayer forms that address the needs of our community and the world. There are usually two lay readers for each service and all lay readers rotate on a schedule. Anyone who is confirmed in the church is eligible for being a layreader.

This ministry involves welcoming those who attend services, giving out service bulletins, providing some leadership in directing people toward the altar for Holy Communion and in taking the financial collection at the appropriate time.

Chalice Bearer
Those persons who administer the chalice of wine during Holy Communion. This role is open to anyone who has been confirmed in the church.

One of our youth ministries, acolytes are members ages 7 and up who serve at the altar on Sundays and assist the priest in various ways. There is no upper age limit for this ministry and adults are welcome to serve as acolytes.

We believe in making a joyful noise unto the Lord. Join us on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm in the parish hall for practice. If you have an instrument and talent to add, we welcome you as well.

Sunday School (Christian Formation) Teacher
We invite you to participate in this very important ministry for our youth or our adults. A fairly good grasp of the Bible and an understanding of how the Episcopal Church understands the Bible and its interpretation are important. If you enjoy teaching and interacting with youth, this is a growing ministry at St. Luke's.

St. Margaret's Guild
This once-a-month gathering of the women of the Church meets on the first Tuesday at 3:00 pm for a time of study, fellowship, and a luncheon to follow. St. Margaret’s members offer a significant amount of outreach with their financial support of several ministries.

Pastoral Care
We have a group of devoted caregivers in our congregation who visit our members, send cards, and look for all sorts of ways to provide care for the congregation and newcomers.

The Vestry is that body of people within the church that provides spiritual leadership and govern the financial decisions of the parish. Vestry members are elected at our annual meeting and serve for two-year terms.

Guild of San Juan Valdez
This essential ministry entails brewing coffee and providing some baked goodie for those who come back for coffee following the Sunday service.

Youth Group
We have a wonderful youth group program and facility for youth 6 years of age and older. They meet regularly every other Sunday afternoon. For exact date and time please call the office.

LEV (Lay Eucharistic Visitor)
A Lay Eucharistic Visitor is a lay person authorized to take the Consecrated Elements in a timely manner following a Celebration of Holy Eucharist to members of the congregation who, by reason of illness or infirmity, were unable to be present at the Celebration. A Eucharistic Visitor should normally act under the direction of a Deacon if any, or otherwise, the Member of the Clergy or other leader exercising oversight of the congregation or other community of faith.

Hannah's Hope
A group which meets weekly at different locations outside the church at noon to pray for the needs of individuals, the community, and the world.

We have a group of people who do the real hands-on work of putting together events at the parish---Italian dinners, pancake suppers, Chili Cookoffs, Fish Frys, Cinco de Mayo celebrations, or Summer concerts, we do a little bit of everything.
