Choir
We believe in making a joyful noise unto the Lord. The Choir sings during the 10:30 service on Sundays and at 9:30
service on the 5th Sunday services. Join us on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm in the parish hall for practice.
Layreader
Usher
This ministry involves welcoming those who attend services, giving out service bulletins, providing
some leadership in directing people toward the altar for Holy Communion and in taking the financial
collection at the appropriate time.
Chalice Bearer
Those persons who administer the chalice of wine during Holy Communion. As with layreading, being confirmed* in the
church is a prerequisite.
In our worship, these ministers read from the Scriptures and pray the prayer forms that address the needs of our
community and the world. Being confirmed* in the church is a prerequisite for being a layreader.
Acolytes
Usually a youth ministry, but we never hold to age discrimination. These are young people who serve at the altar on
Sundays who assist the priest in various ways. The requirement is that one must be at least 7 years old.
Sunday School (Christian Formation) Teacher
We invite you to participate in this very important ministry for our youth or our adults. A fairly good grasp of the Bible
would be an important prerequisite and to have attended an Inquirer's Class to understand more fully how the Episcopal
Church understands the Bible and its interpretation.
Prayer Chain
Those who volunteer to pray for members of our church daily, as well as for special requests in times of need.
Coffee Hour and Desserts
Those who volunteer to bring delicious treats after our 8:00 am service or after our 10:30 am service as a means
of hospitality extended to our guests and members alike.
*Confirmation: In our church, after having attended Inquirer's Class, one is officially welcomed into the church with the laying on of hands by our Bishop and with prayers being offered on the person's behalf. It is the intent of those confirmed to worship and minister as members in the fellowship of the Episcopal Church.

St. Margaret's Guild
This once-a-month gathering of the women of the Church meets on the first Tuesday at 10:30 am for a time of study,
fellowship, and a luncheon to follow. St. Margaret’s members offer a significant amount of outreach with their financial
support of several ministries.
Meals on Wheels
What a great outreach ministry this is to the elderly in our Ada community! St. Luke’s sends volunteers to drive and
deliver meals once every three months for one week.
Pastoral Care
We have a group of devoted care-givers in our congregation who visit our members, send cards, and look for all sorts of
ways to provide care for the congregation and newcomers.
Vestry
The Vestry is that body of people within the church that provide spiritual leadership and govern the financial decisions of
the parish. Vestry members are elected at our annual meeting and serve for two-year terms.
Guild of San Juan Valdez
This essential ministry entails brewing coffee and providing some baked goodie for those who come back for coffee
following the 10:30am service.
Youth Group
We have a wonderful youth group program for junior and senior high aged youth from our parish and The First
Presbyterian Church of Ada. They meet regularly on Wednesday evenings at 5:30 pm and Sunday evenings at 5:30 pm
for movie night.
Dinner for Eight
This is a monthly gathering of St. Luke's members who wish to get to know each other a little better. They meet in each
other's home for a potluck dinner and great fellowship. Please call the parish office if you're interested in joining a group.
Hospitality/Events
We have a group of people who do the real hands on work of putting together events at the parish---Italian dinners,
pancake suppers, Cinco de Mayo celebrations, or Summer concerts, we do a little bit of everything.
Parish Growth
We have a group of energetic folks who continue to find ways of making guests and visitors feel at home. Our ultimate
purpose is to offer the good news that St. Luke's is a place where anyone can find God, and that they are welcomed with
open arms.
Lawn Care
We have a group of volunteers who make St. Luke's grounds looking good. The 2011 schedule can be downloaded
here.
Sunday Servers:
St. Luke's members have many talents to share and we have a variety of ways to be involved. Please
contact the Parish Office to become part of any of these ministries or to share ideas on creating new ones.
