Oakerhater Celebration and Baptism on Fifth Sunday, August 29th.    One Service at 9:30am!!!
On this Sunday we will commemorate the Feast of St. David Pendleton Oakerhater and we will also
baptize Lili Rose Saunkeah into Christ's Holy Catholic Church.  David Oakerhater was a Cheyenne warrior
who converted to Christianity at the turn of the 19th century, continuing his work at the Whirlwind Mission in
Watonga.  He is Oklahoma's only Native American saint and is included in the Episcopal Church's
calendar of saints.  As with all 5th Sundays, there will only be one service on this day at 9:30am.  Brunch
will follow the service and we are inviting members to bring dishes that have a Native American flair, those
containing corn and/or beans.  Turkey will be the main dish and is being provided.  Desserts and salads
are welcomed too.
Mr. Bruce Saunkeah to Preach on Oakerhater Sunday
Bruce is the brother of The Rev. Bobby Saunkeah and a graduate of the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, California.  It will be nice to hear a
new voice from the pulpit as we welcome Bruce and family on that day.

Brian Horton to Become New Youth Director
We're happy to announce that a new Youth Director has been hired, and will officially begin his work August 25.  Originally from Eufaula, Brian is
a counseling major at East Central University, is married to Bonnie, and has three children, Brianna, Brailly, and Brian II.  In the past Brian has
helped us with our Matthew 25 Mission program and has also done youth work with First Christian Church.  As this is a shared youth ministry
with First Presbyterian Church, Brian and his family will be with us every other Sunday.  Their
first Sunday at St. Luke's will be September 5th.
